Hummingbirds
Hummingbirds are remarkably agile, high-metabolism birds capable of hovering in place and beating their wings up to 70 times per second. Their rapid flight and constant movement require an immediate and reliable energy source. They feed primarily on flower nectar and small insects and readily visit backyard feeders filled with properly prepared sugar water. Providing a clean, consistent nectar source encourages frequent visits throughout the season.
FEEDERS: Hummingbirds prefer saucer-style feeders with bright red tops and small, flower-shaped feeding ports. Saucer designs help reduce dripping and bee intrusion while allowing easy access for hovering or perching birds.
